As we head into the autumn months, I am finding myself abundant with joy at the growth New Southerner has seen this year. It has been a pleasure working with new editors and columnists to bring you, our dear readers, their gorgeous words and hard-won discoveries. Staff additions, until now, have been announced on our social media pages – please follow us on Facebook and Instagram to get the latest – but we now have a dedicated page here on the site to showcase our amazing people. Thank you so much to Deena, Andrew, Susan, and Chris for keeping this magazine fresh. You can check out the new page with all of our profiles here.
The latest edition to our staff is Chaney Williams, who will be scouting bi-monthly poetry posts for us, so allow me to introduce you: Chaney Williams is a womanist, writer, and hula hooping enthusiast living in Northern Kentucky. She holds a Bachelor of English from the University of Kentucky and is currently in her thesis semester in Murray State University’s MFA program studying Creative Writing: Poetry. She is a firm believer that the political is always personal and in the power of healing that only writing can hold. Welcome, Chaney!
