Travel writer Betty Lowry provides an ecotravel information network (www.goodmoney.com/ecotravl.htm), including links to myriad eco-travel Web sites around the world.

A list of links at Responsibletravel.com offers a wealth of information relating to all aspects of responsible travel.

The Independent Traveler (www.independenttraveler.com) includes a Resources tab with a Green Travel Center. This site will help you plan an eco-wise trip without sacrificing creature comforts or going off into the jungle.

The National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Backyard Campout Web site (backyardcampout.org) offers camping essentials and other ideas, as well as a scrapbook and camper profiles for sharing outdoor experiences. Find out more about “The Great American Backyard Campout,” held each year on the fourth Saturday of June.

Sustainable Travel International (www.sustainabletravelinternational.org) provides an online “eco-directory” destination guide, searchable by desired vacation experience and/or destination.

The Green Hotels Association (www.greenhotels.com) brings together hotels interested in environmental issues. The association encourages, promotes and supports the "greening" of the lodging industry.

Check out the Green Restaurant Association (www.dinegreen.com/restaurant_guide.asp) Web site for locations of green diners, cafes, kitchens, bakeries and resorts and retreat centers.

The Better World Club (www.betterworldclub.com) supports a cleaner environment and alternative modes of transportation, offering environmentally sensitive products and services for roadside assistance, travel and insurance.
